Fiction Friday - The Tale of Turtor

Once upon a time, in an era long forgotten, there existed a magnificent megalith turtle named Turtor, who roamed the vast coastal waters with elegance and grace. Turtor was no ordinary turtle; he was a behemoth among his kind, with a shell as sturdy as a fortress and eyes that sparkled like the depths of the ocean.

Turtor's spirit was curious and adventurous, always seeking new horizons and the thrill of exploration. One fateful day, as he glided through the pristine waters, a peculiar current caught his attention—a mesmerizing force that beckoned him inland, away from the familiar embrace of the coastline.

Driven by an insatiable curiosity, Turtor followed the current, journeying inland towards uncharted territories. He twisted and turned, guided by the winding rivers and lush valleys, until he found himself at the edge of towering cliffs in a place called Katoomba.

Fate had a different plan in store. In a moment of misstep, his massive form tumbled off the side of the cliffs, descending into the depths of the gully below. The impact was thunderous, as the ancient earth embraced Turtor, cradling him in its rocky embrace.

As time passed, the world around Turtor transformed, as did he. Millennia rolled by, witnessing the gradual metamorphosis of Turtor's once-living form. Layer upon layer of sediment settled upon him, hardening into stone, encapsulating his essence and preserving his noble presence for eternity.

And so, the giant megalith turtle became an enduring monument, a symbol of resilience and ancient wisdom. In the heart of Scenic World in the Blue Mountains, the petrified remains of Turtor stood tall, a testament to the power of time and the untold stories whispered within the stones.
